Meet the Team: Lola
Introducing Lola! Jazz-lover, Coffee connoisseur and WRAP’s Meeting and Events Coordinator.
What is your name and what is your role at WRAP?
Hello I’m Lola and my role at WRAP is meetings and events coordinator.
What's your go-to hot drink to keep you fuelled throughout the day?
I’m both a tea AND coffee lover, so it depends on my mood.
A rooibos tea with a biscuit for dipping is a must for slow days, but if I need an energy boost, I go for a dirty chai latte with coconut milk. Trust me, the coconut and chai spices together? It’s a great combo.
What is your favourite thing about WRAP?
Either the fact that it’s a dog-friendly space (because let’s be honest, everything is better with animals), or the amount of natural light. England can be gloomy for most of the year, and being stuck inside with artificial lighting isn’t ideal. But at WRAP, we have floor-to-ceiling windows, a beautiful loft with skylights, and even a rooftop terrace. So even on the greyest days, there’s still plenty of light.
Where is your favourite spot in Brighton?
Hands down, it has to be Stanmer Park. Over lockdown, it became a real safe haven for me while walking my family’s dogs. There are endless trails to explore, fields of countryside animals, and it’s the perfect spot for a summer picnic. Since One Garden was built during that time, the community feel has only gotten better. After a long walk, I always end up at Stanmer Tea Rooms for a coffee and some cheesy chips. And whether you drive or not, it’s easy to get there - there’s a direct bus from the city centre.
What is an unexpected fact about yourself?
It might come as a bit of a shock, but I’m really into old-school jazz from the 1950s-60s—think Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Doris Day, Nat King Cole, Nina Simone, and Dean Martin. Apparently, I don’t look like someone who would be into it (or so I’ve been told!), but I love the passion, soul, and storytelling that jazz from that era has. That said, if you’ve spent time around the building, you might have already picked up on this… I’m the one behind all the playlists.
What is your favourite thing to do outside of work?
Any kind of live art event. Whether it’s a big-name concert, a small band playing in a tucked-away venue, or a theatre production- if it’s live and creative, I’m there. Brighton is full of incredible performances, from amateur theatre to grand productions at Theatre Royal, and I love immersing myself in it all.
Recently, I’ve also started bouldering… which, to my surprise, has really grown on me! A friend introduced me, and I didn’t think it would be my cup of tea, but it’s a great mix of physical and mental challenges. It makes you use muscles you don’t usually think about, and the bouldering community is so friendly and supportive.
