Meet the Members: Make Good Design

This week we chatted to the lovely team behind Make Good Design, who have been with us since the start of 2022. Lets dive straight in!

First things first! In one sentence, introduce us to MakeGood Design.

We’re a team of creative and technical experts, all united by our belief that the best design should belong to those that are making things better.

Now tell us about the team! Who’s behind the Make Good magic?

Meg and Becky - our Co-Founders & Creative Directors - set up MakeGood in 2020 after enjoying collaborating on several freelance projects.

Charlotte our Studio Manager wears many hats, from keeping on top of our finances, helping manage projects to helping us with our own marketing.

We also work with an expanded team of industry experts to help us deliver brand strategy, UX, web development, content and animation.

What’s it like working in a small women-led team?

When we all spend so much of our lives at work, it’s a real gift to be able to spend that time doing something you enjoy surrounded by people you love.

Being a small women-led team there is a real sense of openness in our studio. We haven't yet discovered any topics we feel are off limits! This also means we have a real respect and empathy for one another.

All of that enables us to do really great work for our clients.

“Design is Only as Good as the Good that it Does” is a wonderful and powerful ethos. What does it mean to you and how do you implement it when working on a project?

It means everything to us, our ethos is our driving force and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved with it.

We are values-led, which is something we bring to every project. We take the time to get to know our clients, to figure out what it is they really need. We’re not driven by just making money from people, for us it has to go deeper or it’s just not right for us. And we think that takes guts too!

What’s one of your favourite projects you worked on in the last year?

We’ve had lots of great projects in the last year, from redesigning the website for an intergovernmental organisation focussed on preserving the memory of the Holocaust, to designing an App for an EV charger manufacturer. But we think our favourite project recently was the work we did for the local social enterprise Here.

Here are the pioneers of person-centred healthcare and needed our help to create a refreshed brand that would reflect their growth and enable them to be taken more seriously by health partners and commissioners.

Our work with them transformed their brand from cosy to something a bit more dynamic and with a little more edge. We’re really proud of how it turned out and the impact it’s having for everyone who works at Here.

What’s a surprising fact about Make Good Design?

Both Becky and Meg are single parents. That’s something we’re incredibly proud of, that our business not only helps good things happen in the world, it also enables us to support ourselves and our children.

And let’s end this with a QuickFire! 🔥

  1. Favourite place in Brighton

It’s a tie between Stamner Park for lovely family walks, and Patterns for some late-night tunes and dancing.

2. Your top local lunch

The Pond

3. Top stroll from Brighton Station

We love to whizz up to Borough Market at London Bridge for some tasty food and drink and walk along the Thames.
