Meet the Team: Nina
With this new series, we will be getting to know the team behind WRAP a little bit better! This week, we sat down with scatting aficionado, Nina.
What is your name and what is your role at WRAP?
Hello 👋 I’m Nina, WRAP’s Community Manager, and my mission is to keep the lovely folk at WRAP feeling as productive and well-looked after as possible! But it doesn’t stop there - I also have the pleasure of coordinating the artwork at WRAP alongside the wonderful local artists in Brighton. It’s a diverse and dynamic role, no day is quite the same.
What's your go-to hot drink to keep you fuelled throughout the day?
Earl Gray. With or without milk. 🎩
What is your favourite thing about WRAP?
It might be a slightly biased answer, but the artwork we display on our walls definitely hits a soft spot for me! It makes such a big difference to the space and it exposes local gems to people that might normally not be into the world of art and design. It makes my day when I walk around and spot intrigued members engaging with the works.
Where is your favourite spot in Brighton?
It has to be Rock Gardens in front of Preston Park! It’s such an unexpected and charming oasis and, when the weather gods bless us, a lovely spot for a picnic with friends.
Rock Gardens is a Japanese-inspired vertical garden entirely cared for by volunteers. And as a bonus point, it sports a lovely pond full of turtles (or tortoises?).
What is an unexpected fact about yourself?
I recently got into (very amateur, ever so slightly annoying) scatting. I realised it really helps me cope whenever I start feeling a bit overwhelmed. And it also provides my colleagues with a bit of jolly “entertainment” when our speakers don’t work (I might have to verify this 😬).
What is your favourite thing to do outside of work?
Oh boy, the pressure is on… I like exploring Sussex trails in and around Brighton - one of my favourites is the trail between Hassocks and Hurstpier Point (watch out for the alpacas). And on Tuesdays, me and my partner love going to the Jazz Jam at the Brunswick Pub in Hove. It’s a charming weekly appointment, the crowd is mostly loyal regulars and the atmosphere is always welcoming and laid-back. I recommend!
That’s a WRAP! And if you spot Nina, or any of the charming peeps from our team, come and say hi 👋
