Emma’s favourite National Trust sites in Sussex!
At WRAP, we're big believers of a healthy work-life balance. So this summer (when I'm not keeping the coffee flowing or running up & down the stairs!) I've been making the most of my free time by exploring some of the beautiful National Trust sites across the South.
It's been such an eye-opening experience discovering these hidden stately homes and breathtaking gardens, we really are so lucky to have these hidden gems right here on our doorstep to explore! Spending time in these peaceful spaces has been the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy Brighton streets.
Here are a few of my favourite spots I’ve visited this summer, all absolutely perfect for a solo wander or as a picnic with friends and family:
🌿 Sheffield Park
Bursting with stunning lakes, giant lily pads, huge trees and mirror-like reflections, Sheffield Park is simply beautiful! Every corner feels like a painting (I even tried capturing it myself!). I can't wait to return in autumn when the trees transform into a sea of vibrant reds, oranges, and golds.
🥾 Seven Sisters
A true classic! The seven sisters is one of my favourite places to spend time admiring - I’ll simply never get tired of these cliffs! If you want to beat the crowds, set off early for a sunrise walk along the cliffs. Or, if you're more of a sunset person like me, pack a picnic and head to my favourite hidden gem: Seaford Head Nature Reserve. The views are just as spectacular far less crowds.
🌸 Nymans
Nymans is full of beautiful gardens, charming courtyards, and a fascinating house to explore. Throughout the summer they host live music evenings and open-air theatre performances, which make a picnic in the gardens feel even more magical. Don't leave without a visit to the garden centre either!
✨ Stourhead (if you're passing through Wiltshire this summer)
After celebrating the summer solstice at Stonehenge, I stumbled across Stourhead by complete chance… and completely fell in love. The spectacular landscaped gardens, temples, grottos, and hidden pathways felt like something straight out of a fairy tale. To make it even more magical, there were choirs singing throughout the gardens as I wondered around. This is an absolute must-visit if you are passing by!
Next on my National Trust list are Petworth House, Standen House and Garden, and Monk's House in Lewes. If you have any favourite National Trust spots, I'd love to hear your recommendations!
