Meet the members: Social Firefly
We’re so fortunate to have an amazing community of talented business people and companies that call WRAP their home. This month we’re celebrating marketing agency Social Firefly - who also happen to take care of WRAP’s social media!
We caught up with the Social Firefly team to find out more about the company and their team!
Tell us about Social Firefly and what you do!
We’re Social Firefly, a marketing agency delivering social media strategy, campaigns and training to help businesses and charities click with their audiences. We care about our clients’ achievements and usually end up letting our tea go cold while obsessing over campaigns (but it’s all good with WRAP coffee on tap!)
Our founders, Mel and James, met while working for Sussex Police. They smashed a couple of campaigns out the park so continuing to work together made sense. The agency was born. The rest, as they say, is history!
What about the rest of your team? Who makes up the wonderful Social Firefly family?
Mel and James hired their first almost full-time freelancer during one of the first Covid lockdowns. Katie, who loves the digital nomad life, has been with us ever since. Sarah is our most recent hire, she works out of our office and is a regular at WRAP’s weekly yoga sessions. Angela helps our clients develop great relationships with their audiences and is often found on her allotment. Dan, who develops paid social media campaigns, is a musician living in the capital of pop – Liverpool!
Some of the team are freelancers with a couple travelling around Europe while working on social campaigns. Mel, James and Sarah are full-timers working out of our office at WRAP.
We’re all about that work/life balance at WRAP. Give us your top 3 reasons why you love it here:
1. Great location for literally everything
2. The nursery is a godsend!
3. The community is in its early days but growing quickly. Everyone is lovely!
Where’s your favourite spot to set up for the day?
We have a private office but love to get out into the co-working spaces and spend time on the balcony in the loft. We love the window seats in the first floor space too, you’ll often find us hanging out there.
Any tips for someone starting out on their freelance/business journey?
Don’t do it alone. Mel and James swear by having a support system around you (including other business owners and freelancers) for advice and to help pick you up when you’re down. While some start a business on their own we were so grateful to lean on our colleagues as we grew, to compliment each other’s skills and work as a team, we couldn’t have done it without each other.
Also, get an accountant and bookkeeper! As soon as possible! You won’t regret it.
Quick fire round
Favourite local lunch spot? The Pond, Hope & Ruin, Happy Maki, or We <3 Falafel.
Best nearby green space? Pavillion gardens, or just head to the beach.
Local Gym spot? Fitness First, obviously! Right next door and we get a discount. Sarah disagrees and says Prince Regent for the swimming pool!
Best kept secret? London Road is a 5 minute walk from the building, perfect for lunchtime charity shop shopping.
And finally… Tastiest cake from the WRAP Play Café? The Bakewell slice is to die for!
